Two People Injured in Sihanoukville House Fire

PREAH SIHANOUK: A house caught fire and was completely destroyed in Ta'Orng Thom village, Samaki commune, Prey Nup district, Preah Sihanouk province, on Sunday, 8 January 2023. Two individuals were injured in the fire.

According to a report from the Prey Nup District Police Inspector, Oung Vuthy, the upper part of the house was primarily built of wood and had a stone brick wall and zinc metal roof. The house was six meters wide and nine meters tall, and was owned by 59-year-old Chum Sovann. The fire also spread to the yard of another house nearby. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

The two people injured in the fire were Chum Sovann, the owner of the house, and his wife, Chhay Mom (alias Ngoy). Sovann was seriously hurt and sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Referral Hospital, while Mom suffered minor injuries and was sent to Veal Renh Private Clinic.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Prey Nup District, Ei Thearin, helped with the fire intervention and visited the victims in person.
